Spray Paint! Neons! Midriff! Summer...

I got told off by the security guard for snapping the displays. How am I meant to learn without a visual diary? What do they think I'll do with these pictures?

At least I wasn't asked to delete them. I find it always so odd when you get told off, I just can't see the harm myself.  I think I'll stick to what I know and snap the flagship on Oxford Street - their much nicer to VM appreciators.

Urban Outfitters

Urban Outfitters employs some good stylist dunnit? Want to buy everything and that's what VM is essentially about - I settled for some lovely sale boots instead of EVERYTHING IN STORE.

How adorable is this window from Laura Ashley? Not one I'd normally take note of but did it for a project I am working on at Uni.

Mary | House of Fraser

Saturday, 19 May 2012

The new season Mary at House of Fraser. I love the use of lighting in this display, stars and neon signage are childlike but the message is all woman, nice juxtaposition. The graphic is on an entirely different window, but you really don't need it to know who you're looking at! Exactly what I'd expect from the retail guru! The repetition of the wigs and the giant orange ball tie it all together also adding another playful element to the display. The arrangement of the mannequins is also playful with their slightly cocked legs and hands saying stop reflecting the Mary message.

This display is from the White City, Westfeild branch. What do you think of it?

The Models Own Store in White City, Westfield

Standing proud in the middle of White City as a giant spilt nail polish, the Models Own store is so much fun. I love the use of colour - perfect for the brand, who are primarily known for there vibrant make-up and nail polishes.

This is their first ever stand alone shop and only opened last month. Aparently it stocks everything - I want one in every colour!!!!

Oasis | Spring 2012

Oasis

I am in love with the concept at Oasis: The Print-cess and The Pea.  This window is from the Westfield, Stratford store.  I love the use of prints and how they've placed it in this story in such a unique way - really thinking outside the box. However, I saw no pea. Just sayin'.

I've been really impressed with their VM of late - their previous window was a cuckoo clock, I can't wait to see what they will do next. I think they've really stepped up and it's so nice to see a high street brand investing in the visuals more especially at a time like this. Watch this space is all I can say.
